Dear Janice & Liz,
I’ve been asked to make an oyster stuffing for Thanksgiving dinner
but have never done this. Won’t the stuffing take on the taste of the
oysters and be fishy? I don’t want to compete with all the other
flavors in the meal!

Jenny, when we searched oyster stuffing recipes on the internet, we got
323,000 results (in .11 seconds)! Adding oysters to stuffing is a
classic variation on one of the holiday’s favorite side dishes. You can
cook the oysters yourself, or turn to canned oysters for ease of
preparation. Either way, you’ll be pumping up the nutrition in the
stuffing- oysters are a great source of protein, iron, zinc, and
heart-healthy omega-3 fats. So go ahead and experiment- we did and
were delighted with the results! Check out our recipe for Smoked
Oyster & Pecan Stuffing. The smoked oysters gave our stuffing a
rich taste, but if you prefer a more subtle flavor, go ahead and
substitute steamed or boiled canned oysters. Good luck!
I am finally convinced that the cholesterol found in shrimp isn’t going to raise my blood cholesterol and may actually decrease my risk of heart disease. Are there any other nutrients found in shrimp that can make me healthier?
Happy Holidays!
